Les Canadiennes take the second and all four points in the Furies’ first roadtrip of the season with a decisive 4-1 victory.

  • Christina Kessler back in net for the Furies, but Catherine Herron takes the start in net today for Les Canadiennes.
  • The game didn’t get off to a very good start with Clement-Heydra (Montreal) scoring off the first shot. 1-0 Les Canadiennes.
  • Shannon Moulson took a high sticking penalty late in the period, but the Furies managed to kill it off.
  • Second period saw penalties from both teams, one after the other. Cassandra Poudrier (Montreal) for hooking, and Renata Fast (Toronto) for holding.
  • As Toronto’s penalty ended, Noemie Marin scored, putting Les Canadiennes up by 2. 2-0 Les Canadiennes.
  • Kim Deschenes serves the bench minor as Les Canadiennes take a too many men penalty late in the second.
  • Spooner puts one in and cuts the lead in half. 2-1 Les Canadiennes.
  • Furies get a powerplay early in the third period as Marin goes off for delay of game.
  • Sarah Lefort scores an early goal, banking it in off Kessler. 3-1 Les Canadiennes.
  • Ann-Sophie Bettez and her linemates slide easily through the Furies D and score. 4-1 Les Canadiennes.

Today’s Blue Warrior goes to Furies Captain, Natalie Spooner. With her loan goal in this game she saved the Furies from a shutout. Spooner’s first line play and leadership in this game also served to keep the Furies in it, and playing hard to the bitter end.

Shoutout today goes to Montreal’s Catherine Herron. Les Canadiennes backup goaltender was a solid performer in today’s game, stonewalling shots from everyone and everywhere. Herron is looking to be a solid backup for Les Canadiennes in the 2016-17 season.

The Toronto Furies return to the MasterCard Centre for their next game, a home-and-home against the Brampton Thunder, on October 29th. Puck drops at 8pm EST.
