I do feel for Reimer. Though maybe not as badly as Dangle does. I mean at the end of the day he’s going to find an NHL job next year even if it’s as a 1B or a backup and he’s going to get paid. Can only feel so bad for a guy who is going to make 2-4 million dollars next year.

It’s a tough spot and is hard for him to find a starter’s job. Maybe he finds that in Calgary though. He’ll have a tricky time.

As to the idea for the cap…I don’t know. If it’s something measly like an extra 5 million then does it even matter? Does the money that spreads through the league help anything? Does that make the rich teams much more competitive? I don’t think so. And if it doesn’t then there’s no point in changing the CBA over it. And if you go further than that and “unleash the monster teams” then you will kill some franchises. A league where multiple teams are folding is not a good thing.

Its not Datsyuk fault that the Wings sign him to a 3 year contract. Why didn’t the Wings sign Datsyuk sign him to 3 1-year contracts? (Like Ottawa did, or tried to do, with Alfredsson).

Its Ken Holland’s job to understand the the NHL cap system. He gamble on signing a 35-year old to an extend contract – something he avoid with Dan Cleary (so he knew the rules) Did Holland ever ask Datsyuk what he was thinking before he sign?

I just don’t understand how you can be mad at a player who is trying to get the best contract available.
